The Spring/Summer 2024 Oil Painting Session will begin on May 15th and end on July 17th.  The Classes will run from 1:30pm-4pm on Wednesday afternoons at my Home Studio in the Redlands. Fundamentals of Oil Painting

For this class, I love to keep class size small, so that each student can get the attention they need to complete their painting. Students work on their own compositions at their own pace. Whether you are learning the basics, improving your skills, or needing a kick-start to your next project, this class is geared to meet the needs of students where they are at in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Pastel and Acrylic students are also welcome to join this class as there is much overlap between the mediums.

Dates: Next 10 week session starts May 15th and ends July 17th. Time: 1:30pm-4pm. Cost: $150 for ten 2.5 hr sessions. Cost Pro-rated if joining in mid-session. Maximum 7 students. Fundamentals of Drawing

This 3 session class provides excellent foundational skills for persons seeking to improve their ability to both draw and paint. No previous drawing experience is required, and instructor provides ALL necessary supplies. Come with the expectation to tame that “I can’t draw” voice inside your head! Old clothes are advised as drawing materials can be inherently messy.

New Class: Collagraph Printmaking

In this 2-day workshop, students will be introduced to printmaking and the wide range of prints possible using the collagraph printmaking technique. All materials supplied by instructor. On Day 1, students will collage a variety of materials to create their collagraph plate. On Day 2,  students will print their plates. In this workshop, students will learn: Image Creation Considerations for Collagraph Prints, How to make a Collagraph plate, Sealing a Collagraph plate, Inks and Safe Printmaking Practices, Using an Etching Press and Various methods of inking a collagraph plate.

Linocut Printmaking

In this Linocut Printmaking Class, students will be making unique cards to send to friends and family. Participants will create a relief printing plate of their own design and block print the design on to 5” x 7” cards (envelopes included). The artist-participant chooses the method, color(s) and design. The end result is unique and personalized. No previous experience necessary. WARNING: this class can be messy! Old clothes are a MUST! Instructor will supply ALL necessary materials.  Artworks may need to be picked up after several days when dry, depending on the weather.

Monotype Printmaking

This class is for those who enjoy an abstract approach to artmaking. Using the monotype printmaking method a one of a kind “painting” is created on a plate and printed onto paper creating effects not achievable with brush or palette knife.  No printmaking experience is necessary and instructor will provide all necessary supplies. You can expect to leave with one or more completed artwork(s) on paper that when dry can be framed or used for multi-media artworks. Wear ‘old’ clothes or bring along a cover-up as printmaking is inherently messy. Class time approx. 3 hours.

New Class: Eco-print Silk Scarf

Eco-printing is a natural dyeing technique in which the pigments from plant material are transferred to fabric. In this class, you will create a one of a kind silk scarf and learn the process of Eco-printing including colors that can be obtained from plants, mordants and finishing processes. The instructor will supply all necessary materials, except PLEASE BRING your own flat headed hammer. Also feel free to bring any FRESH plant materials such as garden flowers, leaves and weeds! BRING a FRIEND for more fun!

Acrylic Pour

Do you love to create art but don’t feel secure in your painting or drawing skills? Do you want inspiration to ‘loosen up’ your art technique? Then this class is for you! Participants will create their own abstract artwork on canvas using the flow potential of acrylic paints. This is a process driven technique—the artist participant chooses the colors and technique, but the end result is always a surprise! WARNING: this class is habit forming, and is also very messy! Old clothes are a MUST! Instructor will supply ALL necessary materials. Artworks will need to be picked up after 3-4 days when dry.

One of my greatest joys is to work with students and help them achieve the artistic result they desire. As a result, I am pleased to offer this selection of fun and creative classes for persons of all art abilities. 


Please remember,  all classes can be custom arranged to meet your needs!

 

If you are the type of person who likes to ‘Get Artistic’ just once in a while, I offer a selection of super-fun one day classes, usually 2-3 hours in length, that allow you to explore different aspects of art making. For these classes, I supply all the materials, so no need to spend extra time and $$$ preparing for the class. You just show up to make art and have fun.

 

And, I am always happy to create a future class at a time of your convenience (with minimum number students). All classes are taught at my home studio in the Redlands, Grand Junction.

 

Be advised, Space is limited in all classes due to the size of my studio. Payment in Full is due at sign-up. If you prefer to use a credit card an additional convenience fee is added. Group rates are available, please inquire.
